SOUTHWEST REGIONAL FLY-IN TO BE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER

The last two years at Hondo have been good for the Southwest Regional Fly-In (SWRFI). Since moving the popular aviation event to Hondo in 2005, participation in all areas has increased dramatically.

Aircraft numbers climbed from 1,042 in 2005 to over 1,500 in 2006. Individual attendance increased by over a third to more than 12,000. The 2007 event is expected to draw over 1,400 aircraft of all types and more that 14,000 people.

Decreasing fuel costs and improved facilities at the Hondo airport have energized the aviation community to make this the premier flying event in the entire southwest U.S. More aviation forums and activities at the event combined with entertainment and accommodation in nearby San Antonio have made SWRFI a favorite late-spring get-away for the aviation enthusiast.
