1956 AIR FORCE PILOT
TRAINING CLASS RETURNS TO HONDO |
Thousands of U.S. Air Force pilots earned their
wings at Hondo Field when it was a major
training base in the 1940s and 1950s. Any
graduate of the rigorous program will tell you
that the year spent learning to fly “the air
force way” was a unique and special time in
their lives. Some pilots went on to military
careers, others returned to civilian life.

Members of Pilot Training Class 56-O are returning
to the Hondo flight line 1-2 June to participate in
the EAA Fly-In and to reminisce about their
adventures in pilot training and air force flying.
Paul Kalisch, whose class was the last to fly the
T-6 Texan trainer, has contacted several of his
class and will have a mini-reunion at the giant
aviation event. All Hondo pilot training graduates
and those who served at the base are encouraged to
attend and enjoy the camaraderie we in the aviation
community enjoy.
Paul would like hear from other Hondo graduates and
can be reached at: 303-755-1858,
